Bean, Fava/Broad - Aguadulce

The Aguadulce Fava Bean is a cold hardy broadbean that can also take a bit of heat. This 4' bush-type plant produces charming white and black flowers that turn into huge green pods with huge, creamy, nutty, protein-rich beans inside. Known as a dried bean, it’s also delicious when eaten fresh from the pod. With its edible leaves, high yields, and nitrogen-fixing properties, this is a gorgeous performer for fall and winter gardens in all grow zones.

  • Easy to grow
  • Cold hardy to 20 degrees F
  • Nitrogen fixer
  • Great for winter gardens

Lost one star because I really wanted a specific variety. Still excited to plant these for overwintering. Early spring fava beans are the best!

Big plants and frost hardy (Zone 7A)
These grew multistem 3ft plants. May need to be held up with a florida weave once the branches get loaded with pods. These overwintered in our zone 7 winter and produced in the spring. They taste great eaten fresh. I saved some harvested seeds and planted more mid October and they are already 6inche...

Slow germination
I planted these seeds 16 days ago and less than 3/4 of them have come up in the last 3 days. The leaves that I can see look like they'll be attractive plants.

Buy Once And Eat Forever
You can never go hungry with a patch of Fava in Your Garden. I bought these seed two years ago, They reseeded and now I get so much food. My plants grow winter, Spring and Early Summer. They would probably grow in fall but I don’t water, in Los Angeles California they grow during rainy season.
